The 29th Annual Lady B Alumni Hockey game was played over the
week-end of December 2-3 at the Stanstead College Arena. The two-day total-score
event ended up with a final tally of 21-16 in favour of the White Team led by
Coach Georges Beaubien.
What looked to be a landslide ended up
being a pretty close game. The White Team opened the game with 10
unanswered goals but the Red Team figured out how to stop them and fired
back to end the first game with a 15-7 score.
Friday night the Stanstead Legion was
kind enough to host us for a reception where alumni had a chance to
catch up on old times as well as meet some new friendly faces.
The following morning was the final
chance for the Red Team to try and make up ground. Knowing this was the
case I think they went to bed a little earlier than the White Team. They
came out firingwith 4 unanswered goals to bring the game close only to
see the White Team seal the victory in the last 10 minutes with three
quick goals.
This was a very special weekend. It
was the first time we had so many alumni show up - so much so that
unfortunately there wasn’t much room for the senior boys to play in the
game. It was also nice to see three father and son combos (Paul Sicard
`60 and Marc Sicard `01, Dugie `70 and Peter Ross `03 and John and Nick
MacIsaac `05) and two brothers (Guillaume `04 and Phil Grant –grade 11)
playing side by side.
It was a great weekend and hopefully
everyone can make it back next year. If you have ever participated in
the Lady B, next year will be a special one since it will mark the
event’s 30th Anniversary. Even if you can’t play anymore come
back and meet up with old friends!
Congratulations to the White Team and
a special thank you to the Stanstead Legion, the kitchen staff at the
College and especially Georges Beaubien for organizing this wonderful
event.
Any alumni interested in playing in
the Stanstead Alumni Tournament the weekend of March 17th and
18th please e-mail me at
