Charles Hodgson
did a lot of skiing this winter. He committed himself to cross-country ski every
day for 100 days in a row in an effort to raise money to help Amnesty
International’s campaign against torture. His worst day was in early December
when a warm spell briefly melted all the snow and he was reduced to plodding
around on Zamboni droppings out behind an Ottawa arena. Many 20 kilometre days
made up for this, though, and he has captured the experiences in a daily log on
his website: www.100days4joy.com.

anything; afraid of heights but need to rock climb to get at these birds!!! The
landscape, fragile and seemingly pristine, is stunning and the wildlife wild and
awe-inspiring. I have had many encounters with polar bears – some wonderful,
some very scary”.
