1968
James
Gray has been
working in film and video production since the mid seventies. As
cinematographer, he has shot award winning feature films such as Robert Morin's
Requiem pour un beau sans-coeur
(best Canadian feature
film, Festival of Festivals, Toronto, 1992, also selected at Cannes that year)
and the popular Manon Briand film

secondes (winner
in four categories during the 1998 edition of the Montreal World Film
Festival). He recently shot the multiple award-winning short film
Hit
and Run (Jutra for
best Quebec short film 2003, Bayard d’Or at the Namur Film Festival). James Gray
has also directed and lensed dozens of documentary films which have taken him
all over the planet. He currently lives in Quebec City.
1988
Congratulations to
Rebecca (Lewis) Russell
and husband Ian who recently celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary with
added enthusiasm. The couple is expecting twins in February. Rebecca is a
personal trainer with World Health in downtown Calgary.
1992
After graduating from
McGill University,
Natalie Cesari
worked as a Customer Service Agent for USAir and British Airways to enjoy the
benefits of free travel. During university she did landscaping in the summer
months and now has been running her own landscaping company in the Turks &
Caicos for the last few years.
Pascale Debbane
left Canada (Vancouver) this year to return to her home in Lebanon. She is
currently working in sales and customer service for her family’s flower
business.

Melanie Aubut
writes, “I
did my Law degree at Laval University and I have a Master’s degree specialized
in Sports Law from Tulane University in New Orleans. I practice Sports Law at
Heenan Blaikie in Montreal, one of the leading law firms in Canada and the only
one which has a structured Sports Law Group. I have been on the Board of
Trustees and Board of Directors of Stanstead College for a few months, enjoying
working with fellow students and the principal of "my time" Mr. Gallant.”

Julie
Aubut has an
Economics degree from the University of Montreal and a Master’s degree in
Economic Development from the London School of Economics. She now works for
the Department of Finance in Ottawa, where she lives. She was married on July
10, 2004 to Felipe Haristoy-Lavin
1996
Ianitt
Yoo recently moved
from Montreal to Toronto where she works for Indigo/Chapters at their head
office in the Retail Operations group. She oversees the operations-side of
customer service for the chain, looking mainly at training development and
policies.
1998
Catherine Aubut
just finished her Psychology degree at the University of Montreal and is doing
her first semester in Medicine at Laval University, going back home to Quebec
City.

Adriana Salinas `99 wrote back in
March `05, “I’m studying in Paris and
will be graduating soon (Marketing). I hope to start my Master’s
in Publicity or International Business.”
2000
Justin
Quenneville is
playing hockey for the Missouri River Otters of the United Hockey League. He is
currently the league’s third leading rookie scorer. www.riverotters.com.
JD
Ross is now
playing hockey and perfecting his Spanish in the Spanish Super League. He plays
for the Majadahonda team in Madrid.
2002
After graduating from
Stanstead College in June 2002,
Tamara
Jacobi headed to
South America, where she spent that fall traveling and studying the countries
and cultures of Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador. Now, after having spent several
semesters studying at Middlebury College, a small liberal arts college nestled
in the green hills of Vermont, the travel bug has returned. Her studies at
Middlebury College have led her to declare a major in Environmental Studies with
a focus in Economics and as a result she will be spending the spring semester of
2005 studying abroad in Australia with a program focusing on conservation and
resource management in the Byron Bay area. She is also currently working on a
book (tentatively entitled
Opening the Outdoor Eye)
addressing affluent lifestyle and the relationship of developed countries to
motorized travel. She hopes to continue researching this during her time in
Australia for publication in the fall of 2005.

Kathleen (McGaffrey) Farrow `29
Also former staff, Mrs.
Farrow passed away Friday, October 22, 2004 in her 94th year. Beloved wife of
the late
Douglas Farrow `28.

Alfred E. “Bud” MacKay `39
After a valiant struggle
at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, October 27, 2004, at the
age of 85. Beloved husband to his wife Jacqueline Beatrice and father to K.
Bruce, Susan,
Tommy
`77, and Mary
Jane. Brother to the late Betty Jutras and
Margaret Martinez `55.
Son of Kenneth Bruce MacKay and
Susan
(Elkins)`14.
Bud excelled both
academically and athletically, winning the Pitcher Prize (school’s highest
award) in 1938 and captaining the Senior Hockey team in 1939. He later served on
Stanstead College’s Board of Trustees in the seventies. He was proud of his
graduation from and continued affiliation with Stanstead College sending one of
his sons, Tommy, to school here.
In the 1937 yearbook,
Bud writes that his ambition was to be a mining engineer and this is exactly
what he did. Bud graduated from McGill University in 1947 and served with the
Royal Canadian Air Force. He worked for many years with Shell Oil, Alberta
Eastern Gas and Yellowknife Rayrock Resources and latterly formed his own
company, A.E. MacKay Petroleum Limited. Bud served commendably as President of
the Ontario Petroleum Institute in 1963, 1964 and 1969.

Ruby
Clarabell (Sparling) Greer
on November 12, 2003.
Ruby was a teacher at Stanstead College and later at Sunnyside School until her
retirement in the early 1960s. In August 2003 Ruby celebrated her 100th
birthday with her three children, and almost all of her 20 grandchildren and 25
great-grandchildren.
