Stanstead College - Red & White Fall 2004 / Winter 2005 - New Trustees
New Trustees
Jonathan Cowen:
Jonathan and his
wife Judith live in Knowlton, Qc. with their two sons Jeffrey (13) and Jason
(10). Jonathan attended Stanstead College for five years from 1967 to 1972, then
attended two years at Sir George Williams University and two years at Ryerson
Polytechnical Institute studying electrical technologies. He is president and
CEO of A&D Prevost Inc., which manufactures and distributes commercial
architectural aluminum products throughout Canada and New England. Jonathan and
Judith became the proud parents of a new generation of Stanstead students in
September 2004 when their son Jeffrey started his first year in Grade 8.
Jonathan joined the Board of Directors and the Property Committee this year. He
looks forward to assisting in any way he can to ensure the continued success of
Stanstead College and all who are associated with the school.
Barry Gallant:
Barry attained a B.A. from the Royal Military College and served in the army. He
then completed an M.A. at McGill, worked for the Royal Commission on
Bilingualism and Biculturalism in Ottawa, and by accident, began a lengthy
stretch in independent school education at Stanstead College as teacher,
department head, housemaster, assistant headmaster and finally headmaster. He
held this position for 19 years until his retirement in 1999 after a total of 34
years of service to the school. During his time at Stanstead, Barry also served
on the executive of both the CAIS and the QAIS. He and his wife Dorothy retired
to Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, where Barry served on the town’s planning advisory
committee. They also have a pied-à-terre in Montreal.
David Gray:
David joins the Board of Directors this year and sits on the Recruitment and
Strategic Planning and Steering Committees. He is the parent of two Stanstead
College graduates, Darren (2000) and Jeffrey (2004). David has 25 years
experience as a consultant and project manager in training, human resource
development and organizational development. He has served as Project Director of
a wide variety of international development projects in Latin America, the
Caribbean, Africa, Asia and Russia. He has also provided consulting and training
services to colleges and universities, private firms and government agencies in
Canada and abroad. David holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from York
University and lectured in Social Sciences at Atkinson College for two years.
David is currently a partner at the Universalia Management Group in Montreal.
