The name “Stanstead College” has become synonymous with hockey excellence. Over the past decade, the school has developed one of the finest hockey programs in Eastern Canada, with top-notch training and an intensive schedule against highly competitive prep teams in New England and beyond.
The Senior Boys Spartans have developed a reputation as a smart, fast-skating team that can hold its own against the toughest competitors. Over the years, Spartan alumni have gone on to play elite-level college hockey and attend quality North American universities. More importantly, the program has turned out young men with the maturity, leadership skills and perseverance to succeed.
In 2009-2010, the Spartans played their rookie season in the Midwest Prep Hockey League, further enhancing an already prestigious program. In fact, the team turned heads by placing first in their division. Another highlight of the Spartans' 36-16-3 season was a victory at home at the Stanstead College Invitational Senior Boys Hockey Tournament.
Since being reintroduced in 2002, girls hockey at Stanstead College has steadily grown in quality and reputation. With actively recruited scholar-athletes and a full schedule that includes a solid core of games against New England prep schools, today’s Girls Hockey Spartans are exciting, competitive and definitely a team to watch.
In 2009-2010, the girls had a remarkable 36-5-3 season, including the team's first-ever trip to Europe over March break. This was also the girls' debut season in the North American Prep Hockey Association, where, like the boys, they finished at the top of their division.
The highlight of the junior varsity boys' season was a championship win at the Eaglebrook Tournament in Deerfield, Mass.

Stanstead College appoints new head coaches to its senior boys and girls squads. Veteran coach James Rioux will lead the boys, while Megan Hutchinson brings extensive playing and coaching experience to the girls' team.
