Application Instructions
In order to complete an application dossier, the following items must be received by the Admissions Office (documents may be scanned and emailed as applicable):
- Birth certificate copy or household registry (English translation required if applicable).
- Three (3) completed reference forms:
1. Personal Reference to be filled out by someone who knows the applicant from outside the classroom
2. Teacher’s Reference to be filled out by applicant’s Mathematics or English teacher
3. Principal’s Reference to be filled out by applicant’s current school principal or grade level administrator
- Copy of applicant’s most recent school report as well as preceeding year’s final report (Grade 10, 11 and 12 applicants must submit an official transcript from their current school.)
- Interview in person or by telephone/Skype with the applicant (contact Admissions to arrange an appointment)
- Hand-written letter from the applicant. The letter should be written by hand in English and should provide some insight into his/her current interests as well as some indication of what he/she would like to get out of a boarding school experience
- Admissions test (written at or through Stanstead College) or SSAT results (where available)
- All applicants whose first language is not English must submit an official language test score: either the SLEP (Secondary Level English Proficiency) or TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
- Application fee of $50.00, payable to Stanstead College
Once an applicant’s file is complete, a decision regarding admission will be rendered.
You can also start the application process online.
The decision to study at a boarding school is an important one. Therefore, if at all possible, applicants and their families should make every effort to visit the College and tour the campus with a current Stanstead student, sit in on a class and get to know the school personally. Visits can be arranged by contacting the Admissions Department at (819) 876-2223 or admissions@stansteadcollege.com. Open Houses and other special events are organized throughout the school year and all are invited to attend. Contact the Admissions Office or visit the website, www.stansteadcollege.com, for more details.
Application Deadline
Applications are received and assessed on an ongoing basis throughout the year. It is, however, important to note that the number of available places is limited, and applications submitted later in the year may be rejected due to space constraints.
International Students
All international students are required to have a Certificate of Acceptance (CAQ) from Quebec Immigration and a Study Permit from the Canadian Embassy/Consulate in order to attend the school. Once a student is accepted the Admissions Office will provide parents with information in order to obtain the above documents. Up-to-date visitor visas and passports may also be required.
