Don't end up regretting what you didn't do
Presented September 23, 2009

Today I just wanted to share some advice that could help you with your life at Stanstead College.
It can be overwhelming but I found that through the opportunities available here, I could have made my last two years at Stanstead more enjoyable. Singing at Café Capp and variety show; hammering that ball at the top of the penalty box in a soccer game against Tilton; dancing with friends at the school dances; trying my best at school; and saying goodbye to a friend who I sweated, bled and cried with on the rugby field and who I might not even get a chance to see again because he’s gone to South Africa. These are the things that I could’ve done but haven’t.
Well-known American author, Mark Twain, said “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream.”
I had not realized that each day at Stanstead College for past two years was a gift, not a given right, and now I regret the things I didn’t do. The last day of school will come and you too will regret the things you didn’t put in action, just like me.
You might think that it’s too early to talk or worry about the last day, but trust me, it’s not too early and I’ve gone through this. The last day at Stanstead College comes like winter in Quebec. You think that there is still time left but one day, you realize that you are already there.
Spend your time at Stanstead College as if it’s the last day. Bring the things that you think you should do into action!
Someone said to me one day, “Unless you try to do something beyond what you have mastered, you will never grow.”
So take your life at Stanstead College as an opportunity to upgrade yourself. Take chances and do things. But don’t forget. You must be responsible for all the actions you take in life.
