Stop, love, live

There once was a middle aged man who lived in Montreal. His father had been in and out of the hospital for several months, suffering from strokes. Though he had talked to his father at least once a week on the phone, he never could really find time to visit him because work took up so much of his time. One evening, he got a phone call from his father who explained he had been feeling lonely and asked his son if he could come visit him at the hospital because he just wanted to see him and talk to him. His son replied that he was exhausted and not feeling well, he’d had a long day at work and he would come visit him some other time that week. That night they both went to bed and only one awakened in the morning.
That man who woke up that morning was my father. During the night my grandfather had passed away. You can only imagine the pain, regret, and disappointment my father felt within himself that morning when he got the phone call.
Too often we take life for granted, and we feel like we have all the time in the world. Yet we rush, hurry and never seem to stop and take a break. We should not take life for granted. We should not rush and hurry.
We should stop and take a break.
We should love life and those that are in it.
And most of all, we should let the people we love know it and make time for them because tomorrow may not ever come.
Life is a gift – Live it, enjoy it, celebrate it, and fulfill it.
