Language Program
French
Languages are of special importance at Stanstead College. English is the working language of the school, but all students in Secondary I through V are also required to study French.
Preparation in French respects or surpasses the objectives and requirements of the French Second Language programme of the Ministry of Education of Québec. Courses are offered at the beginner, intermediate and advanced levels in French as a second language. Students who are able to do so take courses in French as a mother tongue.
English
Selected students from 12 to 16 years of age who have little or no facility in English are offered one year
of intensive English immersion courses within our English Second Language division. Although students generally spend one school year in this program, some students advance rapidly enough to be moved into some regular courses during the school year.
Spanish
Courses in Spanish are offered in Secondary II and III. In the context of the North American Free Trade Agreement, some students will find these basic courses of use for further study of Spanish.
