Handy-dandy homemade clinometers
Mrs. Smith's Grade 9 Math class recently finished a unit on trigonometry, so they built clinometers and measured the heights of various buildings, trees, and flagpoles around campus.
A clinometer is a tool that measures angles to determine the heights of objects without directly measuring them.
The students then took the same measures using the length of shadows and similar triangles.
