Math wizards

The school recognized the mathematical prowess of several students during a special presentation at Assembly Thursday, May 18. The students received top grades in the University of Waterloo's annual high school math contest.

For each contest there is a medalist (highest score in the school) and certificates for students who place in the top 25 percent of all students who write the exam (91,342 wrote in Grades 9-11).

The Gauss test is marked internally; there is a merit certificate for the highest in each grade, and then there is also a certificate of distinction offered to those in the top 25 percent of their grade.
