Stanstead College closed its fall season with its annual Fall Athletic Assembly Wednesday, November 8.

“Years from now, these will be some of the best memories many of you will have – having the opportunity to play on a team sport,” said Headmaster Michael Wolfe in his opening remarks.

The evening included a review of the past season by the various coaches. The coaches also named this year’s Letter winners and major trophy recipients.

In cross-country running, Maxime Leblanc of Stanstead, Quebec won this year’s W. Greenshields Memorial Trophy as the school’s top runner. He was described by Coach Tracey Harding as a “truly talented” runner.

“He’d pass marathon runners who trained every day and he’d pass them with a wave and a smile,” she said.

In football, quarterback Barry Roytman of Staten Island, NY was presented the W.A. Ketchen Trophy. Coach Andrew Elliot described Roytman, last year’s hockey MVP, as a great leader and highly skilled athlete who could have played any position.

In senior boys’ soccer, the Bobby Moore Trophy went to co-captain Julian Perrotta of Lorraine, Quebec for his “unbelievable competitiveness” that “showed the team what it was like to be a winner,” said Coach Darren Gray.

In senior girls’ soccer, the Merle Griffin Trophy went to Cecilia Lunn from Rigaud, Quebec for the third year in a row. Coach Erik Van Dyke thanked the Grade 12 student for her love for the school and for her leadership during her time here.
