Student trying out for national team

Helen White, Grade 11, has been selected as one of three Quebec students to participate in a qualifying event in Vancouver in November to select the Canadian Schools Debating Team for the next World’s Debating Tournament in Greece in February 2009.

Three students from each province across Canada will compete for a spot on the nine-member team. If successful, the nine debaters will attend a summer camp. From there, five will be selected to compete in Greece, while the remaining four will represent Canada at the European Championships in Stuttgart, Germany. All nine will participate in the Pan-American Tournament (date and place to be determined.)

The other two Quebec debaters selected to participate in the qualifier are Howard Cohen of LCC and Matthew Quadrini, Loyola.
