Cross-Country Spartans perform at Bishop's College School Meet
On Wednesday, September 26 the cross-country team made its way to Lennoxville to compete in Bishop's College School’s Invitational Cross country meet. Runners from BCS, Alexander Galt Regional High, Richmond Regional High and Massey-Vanier High were all participating.
Although it rained on the way to the event, once the races were to begin the sky cleared and the sun shone brightly. With a slight breeze blowing, our runners couldn’t have asked for a better day.
The bantam boys had a 3-kilometre course, and Campbell Wolfe, our sole entry in this category, finished in 5th place. In the junior boys' race of 4 kilometres, Andrew Decelles completed the course in 3rd place, with Danny Fenton arriving in 4th position. The senior boys' distance of 6 kilometres saw Charles Berke finishing with a 4th place and Alfonso Alfaro coming in 5th.
The team is working hard and we expect this hard work to pay dividends. With added distance training combined with hill and track workouts, every member of the team has shown improvement in their speed and cardiovascular performance. We look forward to competing against these teams in two weeks and we are confident that this work will result in better placings.

Good results at North Country Union High School Run
The Cross Country Spartans traveled to Newport, Vermont to participate in the North Country Union High School race on Tuesday, September 18. The weather was bright and sunny with a temperature of 23 degrees.
The race consisted of teams of two runners each completing two loops of 0.9 miles (+/-1.5 kilometres) one after the other. The course was laid out in a beautiful wooded area that provided welcoming shade from the sun.
With six schools competing, this was Stanstead’s first real race compared to the others who had all participated in at least two other races. Despite this disadvantage the Spartans performed admirably, with the following results:
Boys
7th place – Charles Berke and Alex Brown
9th place – Andrew Decelles and Ghyslain Ouellet
14th place – Hirohito Mabuchi and Alfonso Alfaro
17th place – Campbell Wolfe and Scott Hersey
Mixed
9th place – Michael Orlando and Sheryll Bush
In the overall standings Stanstead College placed 5th .We can be proud of these results given we had fewer racers (10) than any other school.

Terry Fox Run - Lennoxville

The Stanstead College cross-country team participated in its first official event on Sunday, September 16. The race was the annual Terry Fox Run held at Bishop’s College School under ideal running conditions.
The 4-kilometre trail began on the BCS campus, wound its way through a residential sector and then entered a wooded bike path that provided shade from the bright sunlight. The finish line was back on the BCS campus where water, juice and granola bars were provided.
The first group of Stanstead runners finished within the top 20 participants and it was clear that training sessions held over the last eight days had paid dividends. Special mention goes to Sheryll Bush and Campbell Wolfe, both of whom were able to sprint the final 100 metres of the race.
This event was good preparation for our upcoming race on Tuesday, September 18 at North Country Union High School in Newport, Vermont.
