Meeting the needs of our students
 |
Stanstead College offers many services to help students make the most of their time here and to respond to their needs.
Advisor system
The advisor is one of the first people students meet upon their arrival at Stanstead College. And that relationship with the teacher or staff member will remain for the duration of the student's time at the school. "Relationship" is certainly the right word; advisors follow the student's progress academically, troubleshoot when necessary and generally help ensure that the student is getting the most out of his or her experience at the school. The advisor also acts as the liaison between the school and the student's parents. Students meet individually with their advisors at least once per cycle and with fellow members of their advisee group once a week and at morning assembly. It's a relationship that ensures no student falls between the cracks.
Health Centre
Stanstead College has 24-hour nursing coverage and clinics throughout the day. There is a qualified nurse on staff and on-call nurses during weekends. In addition, a doctor comes to the school once a week to attend to the students' health needs.
Counsellor
A full-time student counsellor is based in the Health Centre to respond to the emotional needs of the students.
LeBaron Dining Hall
Stanstead College has a fully equipped dining hall offering a variety of entrées, soups, salads and more during every meal, including vegetarian options. Seating is assigned during four out of five lunches during the week.
Eric T. Webster Student Centre
The student centre is a popular meeting place for students during free time. Equipped with a giant-screen TV, projector, stationary Sony PlayStation, pool table, ping pong and foosball, the centre is a place to relax and meet up with friends. It's also home to the school's Tuck Shop, where students can purchase school supplies, snacks and Stanstead College clothing and gifts.
Outdoor sports facilities
During free time, many students take advantage of the outdoor tennis courts and soccer fields, in addition to the outdoor basketball court that in the winter converts to an outdoor hockey rink.
Stanstead College rules and regulations
Did you know…?
A fire in 2001 destroyed the student centre, which was a former gym built in 1905. Within eight months, a new improved student centre was up and running for the students.
