Headmaster Michael Wolfe said, “Rina made Stanstead College a better place through her acts of kindness, big and small – a smile here, a word of encouragement there. She didn’t do these things to get attention or to promote herself. She did – and does – them because she truly cares. We are all richer for her exceptional efforts.”

This and other awards were presented at Stanstead’s Baccalaureate and Prize-Giving Service at Centenary Church.

In addition to the Pitcher Prize, Rina was named senior female athlete of the year and recipient of the Yearbook Prize and the Allan Family Friendship Cup, awarded to a student who has shown exceptional friendship, camaraderie, kindness, and support to all members of the school community.

The guest speaker at Baccalaureate was Claudia Hess, Class of 1983, who told the students that they should find their way with a combination of passion and preparedness. She also reminded them that Stanstead was part of that preparedness and for them to be thankful for it.

"As you leave Stanstead today make a point of grabbing the hand of those special teachers and coaches that made you better. Heck forget the hand! Hug them when you thank them and know it’s ok to cry. Passion is as much about tears as it is about smiles," she said.
