Athletes of the Week: Diego Riveroll Dodero & Gage Larkin

We end December with shared Athletes of the Week in squash and senior boys basketball.
Diego Riveroll had never played squash before this year, and consequently started the year at #10 on the squash ladder. Although his coaches saw a lot of potential in him, even they were surprised at how quickly he improved, rising all the way to 4th in the first month of the season, and being the only Spartan to win all of his games at the recent BCS tournament. Only in Grade 8, the future is bright for this week’s co-Athlete of the Week. Congratulations, Diego!

Coming off the bench in last Saturday’s senior boys basketball game against Du Phare, Gage Larkin had the game of his life. A Grade 11 from Santa Ana, CA, Gage's intensity motivated his teammates, his hustle energized the home fans, and despite being undersized as a post player, his nose for the ball and never-quit attitude netted him the following gaudy statline: 19 points, 3 steals, 4 assists and 13 rebounds (12 offensive!). As one of the fans mentioned upon leaving the gym after the thrilling win: “That was a performance that I will remember for a long time.” So will Gage – congratulations on your AOTW!
