Hockey Players of the Month (October)

Our varsity girls and boys hockey teams continued to compete in practice and games in October. In fact, our varsity girls went 6 and 0, with three wins versus Rothesay Netherwood School and three wins versus Balmoral Hall. On the boys’ side, the varsity team went 8 and 3, with a myriad of competition amongst CAIS Schools.

The varsity girls defensive player of the month is Megane Pilon, a mature Grade 12 goalie from St. Jerome, Quebec. She tallied 3 wins, 0 losses and 1 shutout, 9-0 vs RNS, and 7-1 /10-3 wins versus Balmoral Hall. Megane was steady and excellent when she had to be. So far this year, she is a perfect 5-0 with 2 shutouts and 0.89 GAA and .942 SV%.

The varsity girls offensive player of the month is Svenja Voigt, Grade 11 forward from Cologne, Germany. She scored 2 goals and had 2 assists in a 7-1 win over Balmoral Hall on October 23. The next day she recorded a hat trick and 2 assists in a 10-3 win over Balmoral Hall. Overall, she contributed on nearly half of the team’s goals in the Balmoral Hall weekend, with 9 out of the 20.

On the boys’ side, the defensive player of the month goes to team alternate captain, Aksel Jalojarvi, a towering Grade 12 defenseman from Lahti, Finland. Aksel has been leading a depleted defensive core and continues to be a focal point on the power play.

The offensive player of the month for the boys varsity team is Caleb MacDonald, a crafty Grade 11 forward from Cardigan, Prince Edward Island. The Blainville Armada draft pick was a consistent scorer throughout all weekends in October. He is turning into a volume shooter and with that scoring more goals.
