COVID Response Plan

Athletics (non-hockey)

There have been Spartans athletics – in different forms – throughout the school year. The fall athletics term took place before the pandemic truly took hold, and as such featured full practices and even several exhibition games. Once the Eastern Townships region was declared “red” for the first time, winter sports became defined as extracurricular activities and featured stringent protocols and no competitions at all. Spring sports are now under way, also as a strictly extracurricular offering, in accordance with Quebec guidelines and protocols.

That said, the extracurricular and non-competitive nature of Stanstead College athletics this year has still provided real value for our students, for two reasons. Firstly, our teacher-coaches are unconditionally dedicated to the health and well-being of their players, and as such continue to find creative and innovative ways to keep our student body physically active and safe. Secondly, our spacious athletic facilities and the large size of our campus give us the ability to easily and efficiently incorporate physical distancing into our activities (while also wearing masks at all times). Specifically, our two gyms, six soccer fields, outdoor track, two tennis courts, two squash courts, outdoor basketball court, and new outdoor beach volleyball court give us uncommon flexibility to keep our students active and healthy.
