Athlete of the Week: Marianne Picard
Running for the first Stanstead College track team in 23 years, Mariane Picard seized the opportunity to represent herself, her teammates and her school with determination and guts in two grueling running competitions this past week.
The Grade 9 student from Repentigny, Que. approached the first starting line of the season with a look that says, "Nobody will beat me, and I will leave it all on the track." And at the sight of the smoke leaving the starting gun, she hit her top speed and never looked back, finishing in 2nd place in the 800m and 1st place in the 400m at the senior level, even though she’s only in Grade 9! Congratulations, Marianne, for being this week’s Athlete Of The Week!
Honourable Mention: Alex Liddell-Grainger, for his ceaseless effort and invaluable contributions to the senior boys rugby team over two days of grueling but championship-worthy competition.
