Completing the Hockey Coaching Squad

The Stanstead College Spartans hockey program is pleased to announce final additions to its coaching staff for the 2020-21 season.
Frank Longo on board as goalie coach
The Stanstead College Hockey Program will benefit from the full-time presence of our new goalie intern, Frank Longo.

The Whitby, Ontario native will work with goaltenders across all programs in team and individual practices. Mr. Longo is a recent graduate of Nipissing University, where he also played volleyball and lacrosse. He was also head instructor at Carson Bird Goaltending (The Barn EPC) and assistant/goaltending coach for the Whitby Wildcats U15 (2006) AAA hockey club.

“At 6’05, Frank stands tall and exudes tremendous positive vibes,” said James Rioux, Director of Hockey Operations. “The fact that our young goalies will have a hands-on, full-time goalie coach is a huge asset to both them and our entire program.”

Mr. Longo will be living on campus and doing residential duties. He will also coach lacrosse in the spring.

“I’m extremely excited to get started at Stanstead College and help contribute to the winning culture already set in place,” said Mr. Longo. “I’m truly grateful for this opportunity and to work alongside such an experienced coaching staff across all the hockey programs. With such amazing facilities at our finger tips, I look forward to helping our student athletes achieve any goals they set forth this upcoming season and beyond.”

Kyra Borsoi to assist girls hockey
Kyra Borsoi is a recent graduate of Utica College in New York State, where she played both hockey and soccer. She studied communications and will be completing an internship this year working with our communications, admissions and human resources team. Kyra will also be assisting our soccer program in the fall, and hockey program in the winter.

As a former three sport athlete at Holderness School in New Hampshire, Kyra is very familiar with prep school life. The native of Brossard, Quebec will be living on campus and looks forward to becoming fully involved in school life.

"Ever since I attended prep school, I knew that was the environment I wanted to eventually work in,” said Ms. Borsoi. “To be given this opportunity, that I always dreamed of, I am truly thankful. Stanstead College is a great school and I am more than excited to be able to work and coach here."

“Kyra is an impressive young woman with a terrific athletic and prep school background,” said Mr. Rioux. “She will be a solid fit with us here at Stanstead. She is both bilingual and super positive, and I am anxious for our students to be able to interact with her on the field and ice. Moreover, her path from prep school to NCAA sports will serve as an excellent example for our student-athletes to aspire to.”
