Athlete of the Week: Joey Hawco

New to Stanstead College this year, Joey brings self-motivation and a tireless work ethic to every cross-country running practice. Despite developing shin splints early in the season, he refused to stop, refused to make excuses, ran through the pain and consistently improved his pace these past two weeks. Leading by example, he has been a role model for his teammates and pleasure to coach for Coach Reynolds, who describes him as an athlete who always “works like a dog.” Hard working, driven and with an ever-positive attitude, Joey embodies what it means to be a Spartan.
