Spartans Competing in the IIHF U18 Women's World Championship

Two Stanstead College varsity girls hockey players, Alexia Aubin and Karel Prefontaine, have been selected to represent Canada in the IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship in Wisconsin. Joining them at the tournament will be Svenja Voigt, who will be representing her home country, Germany.
Alexia Aubin and Karel Prefontaine spend the past week in Calgary trying out for the U18 national team. They will head out tomorrow to Wisconsin in preparation for the tournament.
 
Karel, from Gatineau, Quebec, began her Spartans career in Grade 9 and has been a varsity girls player for all three years. She is currently in Grade 11 and has committed to continuing her athletic and academic career at Cornell University.
 
Alexia, from Lévis, Quebec, is in her second year as a Stanstead student-athlete on the varsity team and is currently in Grade 10.
 
Alexia is also featured this week in a Radio-Canada mini-doc on their Podium platform.
 
Svenja, from Cologne, Germany, joined Stanstead College in Grade 10 and has been a part of the varsity girls hockey for the past three years. She is currently in Grade 12. Next year, Svenja will continue her academic and hockey career at St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
 
Games for the IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship commence on June 6, 2022. Team Canada will face Finland at 4:00 pm (GMT-5). Team Germany will face Czech Republic on June 7 at 4:00pm (GMT-5). For all schedule details please head to the IIHF website or follow this link.
