Two Spartans named to Team Canada U18

Fresh off their selection to Team Quebec U18 for the Canada Games in February, two Varsity Girls Spartans have been named to Canada’s national U18 women’s team and will compete at the 2023 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship in January.

Alexia Aubin (F, Grade 11, Lévis) and Arianne Leblanc (G, Grade 12, Repentigny) are two of three Quebecers on the 20-player roster. This will be Alexia’s second trip to the World’s, having helped Canada win gold at the 2022 championship this past May. She was joined in that series by Karel Préfontaine, now in Grade 12 and aged out of eligibility.

Team Canada will defend its title Östersund, Sweden January 8 to 15.

This is Arianne’s third year at Stanstead College and on the varsity girls team. Last season she had a record of 15-1-1. She is committed to Concordia University I’m Montreal in 2024-25. This past August, Arianne played a single game for Canada in a three-game U18 series against Team USA and blocked 25 shots and earned the shutout in the 4-0 win. She also played in the U18 Summer Showcase in August.

This is also Alexia’s third year as a Varsity Girls Spartan. Last season she earned 20 goals and 30 assists. At the World’s, she had a goal and four assists. She too participated in the USA series (1G in four games) and the Summer Showcase (3A in three games). Alexia is committed to Colgate University in 2024-25.
