Running on Almost Empty

Stanstead 48 vs Richmond (2) 40
Challenged by tired legs and weary minds, from the opening tip I could tell that this was going to be a tough one for us.
We played man-to-man this entire game, something we have not done all season. As the end of our difficult stretch of 8 games in as many days drew to a close, the wear and tear of the past week showed in not only our performance but our effort as well. On several occasions in this game, we clearly just didn’t have “IT”. I guess you could say that is the bad news. The good news would be that we battled. It was a struggle from the start, but we battled. In the end, we came away with a hard-fought victory and continued our winning ways! Tuesday brought with it a short reprieve as we did not practice in an effort to rest up for what is sure to be a tightly contested match-up against a tough and gritty BCS team on Wednesday evening in their gym.

The player of the game was James Chadwick. Although his numbers in terms of percentages were not stellar, his aggressive nature made things happen for our team on this day. While his usually soft touch around the basket seemed to abandon him for much of this game, he countered this by attacking the basket with energy and passion. He led our team in scoring with 12 points and added a team-high 7 rebounds. Honorable mention goes to Alexis Bernier. Alexis did the little things today that often make a big difference. He was dropping dimes, eight to be exact, all over the place and threw in 5 steals for good measure.
