The first record of football being played at the College appeared in The Stanstead Journal of 1896:
“Football is on at the college in dead earnest and the campus is the scene of daily conflicts, which though not sanguinary are marked with a truly heroic spirit. The playground, which certain young gentlemen of the community recently put in such good shape is proving a constant source of pleasure, while at the same time furnishing an opportunity for the exercise students need. One of the impressive features of the sport is the absence of anything approaching rowdyism. In the hottest contest the spirit displayed and the language is ever that of young gentlemen.”
