It was a good week for Stanstead College athletics, with a clean sweep in rugby playoff championships.
On Monday, the Senior Boys and Senior Girls Rugby Spartans captured their respective ETIAC playoff trophies, both teams defeating BCS in their finals. The two teams also captured the ETIAC regular season banners, each with 4-and-0 records.
In fact, the senior boys had an undefeated season, including winning their division at RugbyFest in New Brunswick, as well as the Greater Montreal 7s tournament and the Sherbrook Abenaki 7s tournament.
On Tuesday, Stanstead College hosted the ETIAC junior rugby finals. The Junior Boys Spartans had already captured the regular season banner (7-and-1) and went on to win the playoff trophy as well. Meanwhile, the Junior Girls Spartans, in third place in the six-team league, defeated Massey-Vanier in the semi-final and went on to upset first-place Richmond Regional to take the playoff trophy.
Also this week, the Stanstead tennis team won the ETIAC banner for the third straight year.
In lacrosse, the Spartans won their semi-final against Alexander Galt on Tuesday but fell to BCS in the final 6-3.
