While the 2022 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship was cancelled earlier this month, Hockey Canada nonetheless revealed its roster, and includes Spartan Karel Préfontaine.
A Grade 11 forward from Gatineau, Que., Karel is in her third year at Stanstead College. She is the only Quebec player to make the U18 national team.
“Karel epitomizes Spartan Pride,” says varsity girls hockey coach Bernie Pimm. “She cares deeply for her school, teammates and program. Karel is very committed to getting a little better every day and contributing to our team’s success on a consistent basis. Earning an opportunity to play for her country is an honour and achievement that Karel well deserves. We are so proud of her.”
Karel is committed to Cornell University for 2023-24.
