Learning Resource Centre
Through the Learning Resource Centre, qualified teachers offer students various learning strategies related to organization, time management, note-taking, test-taking, memory and recall, writing, essay planning, advanced reading comprehension, academic confidence, and critical or abstract thinking.
LRC support is available in the evenings in the form of one-on-one help or small group sessions. Make-up testing or testing in a quieter and more structured environment are also available through the LRC. Students are scheduled into specific time slots on specific evenings. Students, classroom teachers, parents or advisors may request this help at any time during the course of the year.
Students can be referred to the LRC through a number of pathways:
- teacher referrals for students who are struggling, following behind, in need of extra time for tests
- on the recommendation of the department or curriculum committee
- student requests, including walk-ins
- advisor referrals
- early intervention as recommended by the Academic or Admissions office
