Athletes of the Week: William Dyke and Cedric Beauregard

By Erik Van Dyke
Athlete of the Week has been awarded to two deserving students: William Dyke, of the varsity boys hockey team, and Cedric Beauregard, of the golf team.
William Dyke
A returning veteran goaltender who treated the summer off and the “pandemic months” not as a liability, but rather as an opportunity to hone his craft, William is not the same player he was last year. Through commitment, perseverance and a relentless desire to improve, this Grade 12 student from Lethbridge, Alberta, has shown tremendous progress in all facets of his game. This was never more obvious than this past weekend, as he was the main reason for the varsity boys’ success vs arch-rival BCS, including 3(!) sparkling saves in the overtime shootout. Congratulations to William, who is always focused on being the best player and teammate he can be.

Cedric Beauregard
Cedric is a true gentleman on and off the golf course, but don’t let that polite face fool you. Behind that calm demeanour is a laser-focused, intense competitor who always puts in the work, and who never, ever cuts corners. The Grade 11 student from Stanstead is also “clutch.” Yes, he played well all season long, but on tournament day, when it mattered the most, he brought his best A-game and shot a sparkling round of 79 to lead his team to a 21-stroke victory over BCS. For Cedric the strategy is simple – practice more and work harder than your opponents and it will pay off in the end. And if it doesn’t, practice some more and work even harder.
