Varsity Girls Hockey

Girls hockey at Stanstead College is recognized as one of the top prep school programs in North America. Five-time consecutive NAPHA champions, the team currently plays in the JWHL (finalists 2022). The team consists of actively recruited scholar-athletes and benefits from a dynamic schedule and outstanding coaching. All players graduate and move on to university. The very best move on to earn NCAA or U SPORTS commitments, with a number of players contributing to provincial and national teams. In 2021-22, the Spartans won the Female World Sports School Challenge in Winnipeg.

  • Athlete of the Week: Karel Prefontaine

    This Grade 12 athlete from Gatineau, Quebec was a force over the weekend in Washington. She led the varsity girls hockey team to 4-0 record in pool play at the JWHL Challenge Cup. Her big contribution came in their game against NAHA where she found the back of the net twice. The team competed with just 12 or 9 players, and Karel dominated play in almost every shift she played.   • Athletes of the Week: Alexia Aubin & Arianne Leblanc

    On December 30, 2022, two of our Spartans traveled overseas to compete in the U18 Women’s Hockey World Championship in Ostersund, Sweden as proud members of Team Canada. Sixteen days later, after an experience of a lifetime shared with new teammates and their traveling families, these two Spartans were gold medal winners and U18 world champions. Congratulations to Grade 12 student-athlete Arianne Leblanc, who notably earned a game-winning shutout vs Finland in Game 1 of the tournament. And congratulations to Grade 11 student-athlete Alexia Aubin, who notably scored two goals in the championship game over host team Sweden. Felicitations les filles!
  • Two Spartans named to Team Canada U18

    Fresh off their selection to Team Quebec U18 for the Canada Games in February, two Varsity Girls Spartans have been named to Canada’s national U18 women’s team and will compete at the 2023 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship in January.
