Golf

With their home base at Dufferin Heights Country Club – one of the most beautiful and panoramic courses in the Eastern Townships – the Stanstead College golf team participates in ETIAC and RSEQ competition. The Spartans were ETIAC golf champions in 2024 and 2025 and earned individual RSEQ medals. In 2026-27, golf transforms into a two-term sport, fall and spring.

  • Athletes of the week: Matthew B., Ultimate Frisbee & Ben R., Golf

Matthew B. - Ultimate Frisbe, Grade 8 ( Brossard, QC)

Matthew (Grade 8, Brossard, Que) delivered an outstanding performance during the ultimate Frisbee league finals, proving to be a true game-changer for our team. Trailing 6-0 against BCS, he sparked our comeback with an incredible diving catch in the end zone for our first point. Moments later, he made another spectacular diving catch at midfield before throwing a perfect pass into the end zone for another score. Although we ultimately lost 11-9, we scored more points against BCS than any other team had all season! He followed that performance with another strong game against Le Salésien, helping us secure the win and earning himself the title of MVP of the day. Beyond his performance in the finals, he has shown tremendous resilience, determination, and impressive improvement throughout the season. A well-deserved recognition to for an athlete who simply loves playing the game! Co-Athlete of the Week, from ultimate Frisbee, Matthew B.

Ben R. - Golf, Grade 11 (Stanstead, QC)
In the inaugural fall season of golf at Stanstead College, this student-athlete has been all in. Ben (Grade 11, Stanstead) has been steadily improving his consistency, shot selection, and composure on the course. Last Friday, he shot a 78 and won the First Annual Stanstead Invitational Tournament in a playoff, on a very cold day of golf. He missed a putt to win on 18 that could have sent any golfer spiraling. He showed excellent mental strength to stay with it and went back to the tee on 18 where he eventually won on the first playoff. Co-Athlete of the Week, from the golf team, Ben R.

  • Golf: Lost Balls and Beauty

    By Matt Thompson
When I moved the Eastern Townships, and specifically to Stanstead in 2012, I had visited the area only once before on a cold, typical January weekend for a hockey tournament. Leaving the greater Toronto area and settling into life in this area, a few things stand out. First would be pace of life and second would be the scenery. From season to season and year to year, the areas that surround campus provide us with breathtaking views and amazing landscapes.

  • Athlete of the Week: William Towner

Following a difficult start to the season, this golfer from Ayer’s Cliff, Quebec had one of his best rounds ever on Sunday. William’s first tournament victory as a Spartan came in dramatic fashion. Two Stanstead golfers were tied with low score following the tournament, so in order to determine the low gross, they went to extra holes. This means that they walked back and played the 18th hole again. Still tied, they played the 10th hole and still tied, off to the 17th hole they went! When it looked like they were headed to a 4th playoff hole, William pulled up his socks and made a fabulous 12-foot putt to take the victory over his teammate, Jack Carter. For his overall progress this year and his performance on Sunday, your Athlete of the Week, from the golf team, William Towner.
  • Athlete of the Week: Matteo Paradis

This golfer from Nun’s Island had an impressive week on the course. In the second RSEQ event, Matteo was low gross of his division and second overall amongst all divisions. The next day, in the first ETIAC event of the season, he was low gross overall! Matteo is only in Grade 10, so the future is bright for him. Congratulations, Athlete of the Week, Matteo Paradis.
  • Spring Athletics Under Way
