2026-27 School Year Under Way

New students arrived on campus Wednesday and underwent a day of registration, moving in, and orientation activities to get to know each other as well as the teachers and advisors. Returning students arrived Thursday, and the day capped off with a supper in the dining hall – a first time in school uniform for our new students – followed by a casino night in the student centre.

Friday, advisor groups met in the Heart and walked to Centenary, where Head of School Suzy McDonald welcomed all with a talk about GPS Theory.

“When you put in a destination, the GPS doesn't spend time judging you,” she said. “If you miss a turn, it doesn't say, ‘Wow, that was a bad decision.’ If you take a different route because you're curious about something interesting, it doesn't tell you that you've ruined the trip. It simply says, ‘Recalculating.’ And then it helps you find the next path forward. I think that's a great way to think about a new school year.”

Then it was off to classes. Opening Week activities continue through the weekend, including a welcome dance and a trip to Foresta Lumina in Coaticook.

Next week, the students will leave by grade for some off-campus adventure. Students in Grade 7 and 8 will be camping. Grade 9 students will be participating in two days of hiking and wilderness training as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Medal course. Grade 10 students will visit Montreal, while our Grade 11s will travel to Ottawa, the nation's capital. Meanwhile, the Grade 12 Class of 2027 will visit universities and participate in post-secondary workshops.
