On January 10, a new tradition began as Stanstead College and Bishop’s College School met in the inaugural 143 Rivalry Game at the Molson Arena at Bishop’s University. In a hard-fought and spirited contest, Stanstead battled until the final minutes before falling 5–3 to BCS.
The rivalry continued following the game, with Stanstead College responding with victories in both their prep and varsity matchups against BCS, underscoring the program's depth and competitiveness across levels. The following day, the Spartans faced the Bears on home ice at the Pat Burns Arena, with the prep team coming away with the win, while the varsity boys dropped one to the visitors.
The spirit of the rivalry continued in the week following the matchups. On Thursday, January 15, BCS Head of School Kurt Johnson visited campus to collect on a wager by presenting Stanstead Head of School Suzy McDonald with a BCS jersey – which she was required to wear for the day on campus…
Beyond the results, the day was a tremendous success for both schools. The atmosphere reflected the respect, history and competitive spirit that define the 143 corridor, with students, alumni, families, and supporters coming together to celebrate school pride and rivalry at its best.
Stanstead College would like to extend a special thank you to the alumni players who returned to campus to take part in this inaugural event:
