SG Basketball @ Seminaire de Sherbrooke

This game would be the first of four away games each Monday and Tuesday evenings over two weeks in February to end our league regular game schedule. This was Seminaire’s Senior Night, so we patiently awaited their ceremony to finish and volunteered to wear yellow pinnies when both teams arrived wearing red. The custom/rule is that the home team wears pinnies, but we said we would be happy to wear the pinnies as it was their special day for photos and the like.

Their gym was full of parents and fans who loudly cheered for the home team, and their girls wanted to beat Stanstead in this important home game after having been defeated by the Spartans 46-30 in Stanstead January 28.

The SC point contributions in the first period came from Miranda, Clara and SarahL with 2 each; plus Olivia and Elizabeth with a free throw each. 1Q Score: SC 8 - SdSher 4

The second quarter showed anaemic offensive growth with a grand total of 3 points for SC in the period – one bucket from Julia and one free throw from Clara. The only other fact noticeable on the scoresheet was that we had seven missed free throws during that period. 2Q Score: SC 11 - SdSher 9

Our third quarter was a little more reasonable in scoring with Spartans Erika, Julia and Clara chipping in 4 points each and Miranda 2 (although the scoresheet doesn’t mesh in terms of totals…). 3Q Score?: SC 25? - SdSher 19?

In the final quarter, SC managed to score approximately 10 points, with 4 by Clara and Erika and 2 free throws (“Gawon bruisers”) by Julia. The official final score of the game as listed on the scoresheet was: SC 33 - SdSher 23 The unofficial personal total points on the document seem to work out to 35… Clara led with 11, Erika and Julia or “Silk & Spice” with 8 each, 4 for Miranda, 2 for SarahL, and 1 each for Elizabeth and Olivia.
