Vanessa Champagne, Class of 2011, was inducted into the Norwich University Athletic Hall of Fame this past weekend.
Vanessa attended Stanstead College for Grade 12, where, as a defender, she helped the senior girls soccer team earn their first ETIAC playoff trophy in school history, earning the MVP trophy and Major S in the process. She was a member of the NAPHA championship varsity girls hockey team, earning a Major S, and then earned another MVP trophy and her third Major S for a championship senior girls rugby team.
Not surprising, Vanessa won the Shirley Wolter Trophy as the all-round senior girl athlete of the year in 2011.
At Norwich, Vanessa was a six-time national champion in women’s rugby and a two-time NCAA Final Four participant in women’s hockey. She was vice-captain of the rugby team and captain of the hockey team as a senior. She earned 493 points in rugby, ranking fifth all-time at Norwich.
After Norwich, Vanessa earned a doctor of osteopathy at Collège d'Études Ostéopathiques de Montréal and now works as a biomedical engineering project manager at the McGill University Health Centre.
