Besides competing in the local ETIAC high school league, our senior varsity teams participate in their home invitational as well as the annual Canadian Accredited Independent Schools (CAIS) tournaments, which the team hosted in 2024.
I’ll be brief(er), because I want to save some things for Athletic Assembly, and because this still stings.
We jumped right into the ETIAC playoffs after Saturday’s banner-clinching victory at BCS, with a semi-final vs MVR on Monday and, if successful, the ETIAC finals on Wednesday. Thanks to our first-place finish in the league, we would host throughout the playoffs.
On a cold, damp autumn Saturday in Lennoxville, Quebec, on the last day of the regular season, your Spartans beat their oldest rivals (BCS) 4-1 to finish alone on top of the final ETIAC standings. In so doing, they brought the coveted regular season league banner back to Stanstead College, where it will proudly hang on the walls of Amaron for years to come.
Let’s set the table: if we earn 4 out of a possible 6 points (a win and a tie) in the last two league games of the season, we bring the ETIAC regular season banner back to Stanstead. Two games where we are clear favourites. Wednesday vs Massey-Vanier (last place in the league) and then Saturday vs BCS (who we’ve beaten three times so far this year). But nothing scares me more than going in as favourites. Will we play with “appropriate fear”?
