Donation Leads to New Vocal Room

Thanks to a $7,500 donation from the McEvoy family, the Stanstead College Music Department now has a fully refurbished vocal practice room.
Renovations to the space behind the Pierce Hall stage involved removing and relocating costume storage closets, repairing plaster as well as installing recessed lighting and sound buffering wall fixtures. Carpet, chairs and an audio microphone complete the scenario.

“Because our Maintenance staff did the work themselves, we were able to stretch the donation to purchase a new piano for the room,” said Director of Advancement Jesse McRae pointed out at the opening of what is now the “McEvoy Vocal Room.” Work has also begun on a second room across the hall.

On hand for the unveiling were Carol and Patick McEvoy Jr., who had flown from Texas to take part in Grandparents’ Day, as well as Patrick McEvoy III, father of Grace. Also present were Music teacher Eric Grenier along with colleagues Erik Van Dyke and Maxime Boulay, who together mastermind Café Cappuccino, which Grace has participated in during her first two years at Stanstead.

Head of School Suzy McDonald pointed out that the renovations were in keeping with an effort to put an increased emphasis on arts at Stanstead College, making it more present in the daily lives of our students.
